Sunday, October 12. 2003My reviews of the microstock agencies.
There are many micro stock sites. In fact, some almost seem to pop up monthly. Of course the opposite is also true, some can disappear just as quickly. I'm only going to review those sites that I submit to or are well established. These are just my reviews, your mileage may very.
ShutterstockOnline since 2003; Has rapidly become one of the top RF agencies. They utilize a subscription only payment model. They pay .25 cents a download but there subscription model encourages many downloads. This site consistently has the most downloads a month is always one of my top earners. They tend to be the strictest with regards to noise in the images. They don't like any. DreamstimeOnline since 2000; Also one of the more established agencies. They pay either .50 cents or 1 dollar per download depending on the use of the file. They are always near the top for earnings. iStockphotoThe one that got it all started. BigStockPhotoNot the fastest seller in the world, but it's consistent. Also has a relatively low minimum payout amount. Fotolia123RFA very slow site in terms of sales. Some people really like it, it does have a very easy upload process. The slow sales and the high minimum payout amount make it a questionable site for me. Can Stock Photo Slow, but a sentimental favorite. This is where I had my first sale.
